I-5 Funding bill signed by Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber (March 2013)

ABOVE: Governor John Kitzhaber is flanked by supporters, including ACEC Executive Committee Past Vice Chair and ACEC Oregon Past President, Ken Wightman, David Evans and Associates, Inc.,as the governor signs House Bill 2800. The bill provides $450 million for the I-5 bridge replacement project. To the governor's left are House Speaker Tina Kotek, D-Portland, and Rep. Cliff Bentz, R-Ontario, key supporters of the bridge.

Governor Kitzhaber said the bridge and freeway expansion project is critically needed to undo what he called the “worst pinch point” for commerce between Canada and Mexico.

Networking Day Foursome Wins Tournament by One Stroke

From a field of 36 teams, the foursome was the overall winning team with a score of 57, narrowly edging out the second place team who finished with a score of 58. Third and fourth place teams tied with scores of 60. Prizes were also awarded for: Closest to the Pin Hole 3 - Jon Rooper; Closest to the PIn Hole 6 - Terry Jacques; Closest to the Pin Hole 13 - Kevin Gray, Clark County; Long Drive Men Hole 5 - Terry Jacques; Long Drive Women Hole 5 - Melissa McFeron, Miller Consulting Engineers. Congratulations, golfers!


"Day at the Capitol," Salem, Oregon, February 22, 2011

ACEC Oregon Presents "Recognition of Excellence" to Jack Beemer, P.E., FACEC (and Past President 1997-98) - November 2010

On November 17, 2010 during the Election Recap dinner in Portland, ACEC Oregon presented long-time member and past president (1997-1998) Jack Beemer, David Evans and Associates, Inc., with a "Recognition of Excellence" award in grateful acknowledgement of Beemer's outstanding gift of time, energy and commitment to the Council. Beemer has served as Oregon's PAC champion for the ACEC National PAC for the past several years and has been instrumental in ACEC Oregon achieving our ACEC National PAC goal for the third year in a row. Beemer has also chaired the ACEC Oregon Risk Management Committee for many years. Thank you, Jack!

ACEC Oregon Meets with Gubernatorial Candidate John Kitzhaber

Former Governor John Kitzhaber, the expected winner of Democratic primary, met with ACEC Oregon on May 7, 2010 at HDR ngin Portland to discuss issues of interest to our members and allow him to outline his vision for Oregon’s future. Thank you to HDR Engineering for hosting this event. A similar meeting will be scheduled with the Republican winner after the primary.

Breakfast with Congressman Kurt Schrader, August 3, 2009, Portland

 

ACEC Oregon members held a PAC fundraiser for Congressman Kurt Schrader (D-OR) on August 3. During the meeting, Congressman Schrader voiced his support for highway transportation reauthorization for the repeal of the three percent withholding mandate. Schrader also took time at the event, held at David Evans Associates, Inc. in Portland, to answer questions concerning healthcare legislation.

Governor Signs Jobs and Transportation Act - July 2009

Governor Ted Kulongoski signed the Jobs and Transportation Act on July 29 at Portland's Union Station. The bill calls for more than $1 billion in infrastructure funding and raises Oregon's gas tax for the first time since 1993. Oregon's gas tax will increase from 24 cents to 30 cents after two consecutive quarters of statewide job growth or in January 2011.
