"Just because you do not take an interest in politics
doesn't mean politics won't take an interest in you."
--Pericles (430 B.C.)
ACEC Oregon maintains a presence in the state legislature and with state and local agencies to represent the business and professional interests of our members. Through our ongoing lobbying efforts, ACEC Oregon works to ensure that legislative and agency leaders receive information and opinions from consulting professional engineers and professional land surveyors on issues affecting the public.
ACEC Oregon's "Day at the Capitol," held when the state legislature is in session, gives our members an opportunity to visit with their legislators in small groups about engineering and surveying issues. ACEC Oregon's Legislative Committee routinely reviews bills introduced in the legislature and are an advocate for new legislation as it becomes necessary.
The Legislative Committee is working hard to stay abreast of the 2011 legislative session.
Priorities include:
- Work to pass priority legislatiion
- Transportation funding
- Play defense, oppose legislation detrimental to ACEC Oregon member firms
- Protect QBS (Qualifications Based Selection)
