What
is ACEC Oregon?
ACEC Oregon is a non-profit organization originally founded in
1956 as the Consulting Engineers Council of Oregon (CECO) . In 2002 it's name was changed
to ACEC Oregon (American Council of Engineering Companies of
Oregon). However, it's goal remains the same: to protect the public welfare and advance
the professional quality of private practice consulting engineers.
ACEC Oregon represents approximately 4,000 employees in Oregon
through more than 115 consulting engineering firms of all sizes. Consulting
engineering activities of member firms are conducted under the responsible
charge of professional engineers who are required to maintain their
engineering registrations in Oregon. (Click here to read details about P.E.s
in Oregon, as stated in the Oregon Administrative Rules and referenced by
OSBEELS, the
Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying.)
ACEC Oregon is a member organization of the American Council
of Engineering Companies (ACEC) in Washington, D.C. With 5,700 member firms, ACEC is the
largest national organization of engineers engaged in the practice of consulting
engineering.
Created to assist consulting
engineering firms in achieving their business-related goals, ACEC Oregon promotes professionalism and quality, and is the
only organization with staff lobbyists watching out for the business interests of
consulting engineers in Salem.
