PRESENTATION
Water Station 1 Upgrades - Design and Construction

SYNOPSIS
The Water Station 1 site contains 12 active groundwater wells, multiple booster pumping facilities, water treatment, and storage. The site is Vancouver’s most prolific water source and capable of providing 27.4 MG of drinking water per day. The Water Station 1 Upgrades project is being completed in three phases.

  • The first phase has been completed and consisted of site wide electrical upgrades, new control systems, a booster pump station, operations support facilities, and a treatment facility.
  • The second phase is currently under construction and consists of replacing a 250,000 gallon elevated water tower with a 1 MG water standpipe, replacing 5 MG of ground level water storage with 8 MG of ground level storage, and security improvements along with other site civil improvements. All this is being done while the site remains active to feed most of downtown Vancouver and push water to outer areas in higher pressure zones. Phase 2 is anticipated to be completed by mid-year 2021.
  • The final phase will be Phase 3 and is slated for construction in 2022. The last phase will replace three declining groundwater wells.
