Lunch Speaker: Senator Bruce Starr
During Senator Starr's tenure in the legislature, he was the transportation expert - having chaired the Business and Transportation Committee during his time in the House and serving as Vice Chair during his time in the Senate. He was instrumental in the 1999 passage of the Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA) and led the passage of a yearly version of the bill each session he served. One of his proudest achievements was the passage of the Jobs and Transportation Act (JTA) in 2009, which included the funding for the Newberg/Dundee Bypass. In the 2025 session, Senator Starr is leading the ODOT accountability group slated to give recommendations to the Joint Committee on Transportation in March.
Oregon's legislature is in session and the ACEC Oregon Legislative Committee is busy working on issues important to our profession.
Oregon's citizen legislators are not professional politicians--they depend on us to educate them about our issues of importance.
If we don't, who will?
Appointments with legislators will be scheduled for those registered. Members will be grouped to deliver a prepared message to legislators.
Emerging leaders are welcome! This is a great time to see the legislative process in action.
In order to deliver a consistent message, please attend the issues briefing at 8:00 a.m. Refreshments will be provided. The event will also feature lunch with a legislator speaker.
